I LOVE love love Expressive Soul Painting…
It’s what I do when I need to ‘let it out’. I LOVE it! And the bigger the canvas the better! Often after finishing a painting, I sit with it and write down any messages or insights that came through while I was lost in the process of painting. Each artwork has its own story and captures what I was feeling in that moment in a visual form. It’s definitely painting from the soul…
Volatile.
Red shirt. Black pants.
Sitting still. Staring
As if catching your breath,
Calming your soul,
Quietening your mind.
Aware of your inner volatility.
Taking in each breath
S l o w l y .
Half smile hides immense pain
And the awareness
Of how quickly things can change.
But for now
Enjoying the moment,
Being present,
That is all there is.
And then you were gone…
It was only a dream.

Sometimes when your whole soul smiles it’s such an amazing feeling that there are literally no words to describe it - that’s when expressive painting is my absolute go to. There is nothing better than lashing out on a big canvas with lots of colourful paint using a big brush (and of course my hands!), listening to my favourite music. Time seems to stand still but I definitely don’t - it’s a whole body and soul experience!

A moving expressive painting done in my new art shed in Cowra. The end result can be a complete surprise when I’m lost in the process as I was during this one.
