PHOEBE

I LOVE creating characters… especially Phoebe who is my favourite. In fact, by 2018 I had so many Phoebe illustrations that I published my first book, The Whimsical Wisdom of Phoebe. Since then I’ve also illustrated three childrens books, a humorous adult book and completed various other illustration work. But Phoebe is my fave and turns up on a continuous basis so it won’t be long before its time to publish another book!

EXPRESSIve painting

I LOVE LOVE expressive painting… its my go to when I need to get things off my chest. There’s nothing better than letting it all out on a big canvas with lots of paint! In the words of artist, Georgia O’Keeffe, “If I could say it with words, there would be no reason to paint.” It’s a way of unleashing my restless soul without going anywhere. I LOVE LOVE LOVE drawing with charcoal… and pastel… on big pieces of paper! I also LOVE drawing interesting faces and using distortion to emphasise different features. It’s so freeing to capture a personality without being hemmed in by the perfect details. I’ve done lots of life drawing over the years and studied drawing at the National Art School but drawing the faces of interesting characters are my absolute favourite!
